Barcelona Rules Out Transfer For Nolito

Jan 31, 2016 4:11 PM

Josep Maria Bartomeu has said Barcelona will not sign Celta Vigo star Nolito in the winter window.

Nolito has scored eight goals in 15 La Liga games, but Bartomeu told Cadena Ser radio: "In these past few days there has been so much talk about a player.

"But the club obviously can't -- we have a limitation on our debt, and with that we can't do anything about it."

Nolito has an €18 million release clause.

Cahill 'At Crossroads' With Chelsea, Unlikely To Be Sold In January

Jan 27, 2016 3:22 PM

Gary Cahill is unlikely to be sold by Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Cahill has grown frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities.

A source close to Cahill, a £7 million signing from Bolton four years ago, told Reuters the 30-year-old considered himself to be “at the crossroads of his career.”

Chelsea is on the verge of signing Matt Miazga of the New York Red Bulls.

Chris Smalling and John Stones have made strong cases to be England's first choice center backs during Euro 2016.

Matt Miazga To Be Sold By Red Bulls To Chelsea

Jan 27, 2016 11:14 AM

Matt Miazga will be sold by the New York Red Bulls to Chelsea.

Miazga had less than a year to run on his current contract with the Red Bulls.

On Tuesday, multiple sources told ESPN FC that Miazga was set to be sold to an undisclosed Premier League team. The Daily Mail reported that the transfer fee is approximately $5 million.

Chelsea has long been rumored to be on the trail of Miazga, with word emerging in November that the Blues had made an offer for the center-back. Leicester City and Stoke City had also been reportedly interested in Miazga.

Atletico Madrid Unlikely To Keep Fernando Torres For 16-17

Jan 28, 2016 10:30 AM

Fernando Torres is unlikely to remain at Atletico Madrid next season.

Torres was told by Diego Simeone that he's not in the club's plans for the 16-17 campaign.

Torres is on loan from AC Milan.

Asked about Torres this week, Simeone was non-committal: “The other day I said there was nothing to say because there wasn’t. We’ve talked to Fernando and he knows what I think and he’s told me what he feels. The talk remains private. We’ve talked, which is the main thing.”

One source with knowledge of the negotiations indicated "discussions are ongoing and positive."

Howard signed a four-year contract with Everton in 2014 that lasts until 2018.

The Rapids are unlikely to need to pay a transfer fee.

The source said Howard will earn between $2-3 million per year, making him easily the highest paid goalkeeper in MLS.

Real Madrid Rules Out Making Any January Signings

Jan 27, 2016 11:14 AM

Florentino Perez said Real Madrid won't sign anyone during the January transfer window.

Madrid were earlier this month banned from all transfers during the summer 2016 and winter 2017 windows after FIFA found they had on many occasions broken the laws regarding the international transfers of players aged under-16.

"The FIFA punishment is painful," Perez said. "It is very serious to stain the image of Madrid with this. We are convinced that all this is a mistake, it is absurd to think that Real Madrid would be punished for a case of protecting minors, when children have always been a priority for us.

"We are not going to sign anyone in the winter transfer window, but that has nothing to do with the punishment, it is because we have the best players in the world and the best coach."
